We now explore “Danse Macabre,” a poem written by Henri Cazalis, and “Danse Macabre,”
an orchestral tone poem by Camille Saint-Saëns, who was inspired by Cazalis.
3. Ondine
-Aloysius Bertrand and Maurice Ravel
We now explore “Ondine,” a poem written by Aloysius Bertrand that inspired
Maurice Ravel’s piano piece by the same name.
4. Afternoon of a Faun
-Stéphane Mallarmé and Claude Debussy
We now explore “Afternoon of a Faun,” a poem written by Stéphane Mallarmé that
inspired Claude Debussy’s orchestral tone poem “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun.”
